I decided to pop in today and share my ever favorite naptime confessions style post, I feel like I've been all about the honestly this month on the blog so here we go...
- I haven't worked out in 7 months!!! This is the longest stretch I've gone since before Matthew was born. I'm not proud of this fact. I had an awesome gym routine from the time Matthew was 4 months old and then last summer he started throwing fits and screaming whenever I left him in the gym daycare. It got so stressful for me, I just stopped going. I know that's not what you're supposed to do but I just couldn't deal with it. I am attempting to go today. I'm hoping now that he's older and with Miller with him he won't cry. We'll see. Wish me luck.
- To top off the no working out I'm not even eating that well. The toddler leftovers and rejected food is killing me. Everyone refused to eat cheese quesadillas the other night, so I ate them. I hate throwing perfectly good food away. What do you all do in this situation?
- Does anyone have any good toddler meal suggestions? I feel like we are just in a rut. They're so picky which doesn't help but I feel like even they're bored with what I've been putting together lately.
- Our contractor has said 6 weeks until our house is finished!!! I'm thinking it will be at least 8 though. Our floors are getting stained this week and our cabinets should be here in two weeks. I am so ready to get back into our house. The townhouse has been a fun adventure for us but you can tell we're all itching to get back home and into our bigger space.
- We chose a custom stain we had our floor guy put together. I snuck into the house yesterday to take pictures even though they told us to stay away- oops! It's looking a little reddish here which is making me nervous but the guy told me not to panic because it hasn't dried yet.
I love the way it looks in this light.
- I have a whole round up of kitchen posts I've been working on to share with you all. We're finally to the fun parts and I want to share more about the process as we continue through it.
- Miller and Matthew are becoming best buddies and it's the sweetest thing ever! I never thought the moment would come but they play with each other all day. They can't wait for the other one to wake up in the morning or get up from a nap so they can play and I love it. Not only does it give me a little break but it also makes my heart melt to see them together.
- Kyle and I are trying to plan a quick weekend getaway. Alone. We had wanted to do it last fall but it just didn't work out with his schedule and the move for the kitchen renovation. We're thinking early late March/early April and we can fly free on Southwest, so we want to take advantage of that. We want somewhere warmer than here with a quick flight.
I've narrowed it down to: Charleston, Bahamas, Florida (pretty open there), and Cancun.
Where do you all think you would go? Charleston or FL would probably be the easiest but then I feel like I would get more relaxing done in Bahamas or Cancun.

I try not to stress too much about these little things, because life will get back to normal (hopefully!!). The more I stress about it, the worse I feel!
ReplyDeleteI figure you have to take the happiness you have---like those 2 sweet boys!!
Just my opinion, of course, and good luck!

Getting back in a regular work out routine after a break is tough. I stopped working out in the fall because I had so many gardening chores to get done and it was too hard on my body to do both. Then I had to decorate the house for Christmas, then it was the holidays, then I had to take the decorations down, then I got sick for too weeks, ...so I went about three or four months without exercise. I'm happy to say I finally got back into it, but boy am I sore!
ReplyDeleteI love your floors. I'm trying to decide on new floors for my master bedroom. I don't know if I should go with a grey or a brown.
Love the floors already! I really like seeing how everything is progressing. With the toddler food thing... I save it for their dinner if it's lunch or if it's dinner my husband eats it if he's still hungry after dinner. I hate wasting food too.
ReplyDeleteI hear you about the meals! They are definitely tough and my little guys are getting picky too. We purchased these sandwich shape cutters and they seem to really like them. I know it sounds cheesy but making designs out of vegetables and fruit also seems to help. I try to get them involved in making meals so they get excited to try it. My husband and I loved the Bahama's when we went but we also loved Cancun and FL too. Really any where that is different than your everyday will be great! Beautifully Candid
ReplyDeleteI live in FL and when we were looking for a quick getaway, we went to Cancun and stayed at an all-inclusive called Secrets The Vine. I'd definitely recommend if you're looking to relax!
ReplyDeleteI vote for Bahamas! The beaches of Nassau are gorgeous and lots to do! And now you have me nervous for Hadley developing a gym daycare phobia - we have a good little routine down now, but I'm learning that routines never last long with babies, ha!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the gym today!! I'm sure you will feel so much better after getting back in that routine. Can't wait to see the end result of the renovation, hopefully they'll finish closer to 6 weeks. I vote the Bahamas. It's on my list too. The water just looks beautiful and I feel like it's easier to really relax when I'm internationally traveling!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, go to Charleston! lol I live in Florida and I just feel like Charleston has so much more to offer! The water might not be as clear as on the west coast of FL or Miami but I just love Charleston!
ReplyDeleteI hope the gym goes better. As for eating the left overs girl been there done that I babysit my nephew after school and he always has left overs. . . now before I even look at it i dump it in the trash . . . I know it is bad but I have a wedding to look good for . . . I also have 0 will power when it comes to french fries lol

Hearing how Matthew and Miller are best buds makes me hope my next baby is a boy for sure! I need toddler food ideas too. We do a lot of frozen and canned veggies and fruits and frozen nuggets or meatballs. So boring and I know Oliver is tired of it! I need to make him quesadillas more often. I say come to Charleston!! So much to do, you can relax on the beach and it's been in the high 70's lately so I'm sure March/April will be warm!
ReplyDeleteYour floors look beautiful! It is so exciting that you will be back in your home again. :) Any of your getaways sound fun; that will be so good for you all!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your floor!
ReplyDeleteWe went direct from BWI to Jamaica on Southwest for a getaway weekend and it was fantastic. BUT, keep in mind that international can take a bit longer with arrivals (going through customs, etc) - so depending on how short your trip is it might be easier logistically to stay domestic. We did Friday - Sunday and it was totally worth it once we got to the beach (though customs and the ride to our resort kind of made me pull my hair out as I was ready to be there)
ReplyDeleteOh man, going back to the gym after a break is so difficult! I've been bringing my little one along with me since she was 2 months old, and she also becomes a little, ahem, unhinged, when she goes to daycare there after a few weeks away, haha. You can do it, mama! Sending you good vibes as you get back into it. xo
ReplyDeleteWhen Eve was in that phase, I ended up working out from home and using her as my weights :) all the best!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday! I hear you about the gym routine...so hard to get started and so easy to fall out of - good luck getting back into it! Thanks so much for hosting :)

The food struggle is very real here too. I eat all of the leftovers because I never let it go to waste, but it's so bad! I try to make the kids eat what we eat, and it's SUCH a struggle, but then I won't eat crap and they will eat new things (with a candy bribe for one bit of everything.) If they don't eat, they can have Cheerios. Probably mean, but it has helped! The floors look so good!!!
