My mom on the other hand is 5'4 and I think has two pairs of flats in her closet. Everything she wears has a heel of some sort or she feels too short.
I'm in the market for some new "mom" flats- ie shoes I can run around with kids in and not worry about ruining and then some dressier flats for when I go out or I'm not with the kids.
Here are some I'm loving:
I found these while browsing Shopbop and I'm totally intrigued. Has anyone tried this brand? They are only $55 so I think I might get them to try.
I've mentioned before that I'm a huge Toms fan and I'm loving this new navy stripe one. I still haven't replaced my beloved gold herringbone ones because I haven't found a pattern I love but I think this might be it. I saw them in person too and the picture doesn't do them justice.
I'm really loving the woven leather for summer. These remind me of a pair of sandals my mom had in the 80s/90s that I loved so I think that's why I like these.
I've had my eye on these flats for awhile now and I think I just need to break down and buy them. I've always been a Steve Madden fan and I feel like they will last you for years and won't break the bank at $60.
I'm loving the look of these and think they would be so cute with shorts or skinny jeans. The best part- they're from Target and only $24!! I'm not sure I can pull them off because I'm not that trendy but I'm going to see if my Target has them today.
I love these for summer! I love a good peep toe and a peep toe flat is even better. These remind me of a pair of Nine West peep toe wedges I used to have which is probably why I love them.
These are a total splurge but have been on my wishlist forever. Who doesn't love a classic ballet flat with a little scallop!
Are you a flats or heels person? Do you wear one more than the other?
I didn't realize you were so tall! Lucky lady! I'm all about flats at 5'7 not trying to feel taller than everyone... and it's just easier to wear them and run around with kids all day. I tried to Steve Madden D'Orsay and reallllly wanted to love them, but they're super, super narrow and I had to return them. I have heard great things about Soludas!
ReplyDeleteLove these picks! I'm wearing my gray Toms today! Love those for a good "on the go" casual and comfy shoe!
ReplyDeleteI totally get the tall girl problems. People are always like geez what are you 6ft? I get so mad I'm like I'm 5'8 but at my doctor's they told me I was 5'7 and 3/4 so shut it haha! Love the Vince Camuto ones! I never wear heels but I need to because they really are so flattering.

The only problem with espadrille flats (like Soludos) is that you absolutely cannot get them wet. If it starts to rain, if you accidentally step in a puddle, any bit of moisture that gets on the sole will absorb and warp the bottoms (where your feet feel them). Happened to me with a pair of Tory Burch flats, so while I will likely buy another pair, I can't always wear them as freely as I want because of the fear of getting them wet!
ReplyDeleteSame with my Tory espadrilles which I really regret spending $100+ on. Would recommend the basic Soludos, think they're even less than $50. Otherwise, I love my Sperry's!!

DeleteI agree. Espadrilles are not made for wet weather. I was wearing my Tory espadrille one day when it started to rain. Then it started to hail so I ran outside to move my car in. After three steps in the rain it felt like I had 2 five pounds sponges on each foot. Thankfully I dried them out and they weren't ruined. I like espadrilles but of my 50+ pairs of Tory's most of them are Tory flats.
With the gender lines coming closer I can proudly say, "I'm a guy and I most often wear ballet flats."

hahha im 5'4 and i only wear flats :) i think i have one pair of heels and im sure they are covered in dust! cute picks!! xo jillian - cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteI rarely wear flats, def a heels girl. I think my butt looks better in heels. ha. Although in the summer all i wear are my Jacks. So..for a quarter of the year I am flat footed!
ReplyDeleteAh, yes! I am 5'8" (so not super tall, but I feel taller than a lot of people - especially in heels), so I always try to go for lower heels but have graduated to flats for 99% of my life now that I am a mom. Dr Scholls makes really cute (and comfy) flats - I have some leopard ones that I LOVE. Toms are always my go-to, but I love some of the ones you listed, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm 5'1" and never wore flats until I was pregnant. Now it seems impossible to wear heels. I've been wanting to try Toms forever and love the striped pair you picked. I purchased a pair of Madewell d'orsays that I am super crazy about for a dresser flat. I love the woven flat too.
ReplyDeleteI too have lusted over the chloe scallop flats for years. But I beat up my ballet flats so quickly, I can't justify them. If you're looking for an inexpensive sub, Lauren Conrad has a pair at Kohls that is super similar. Obviously the quality is not on par (they're synthetic, not leather) but the price is awesome and they're pretty comfy.
ReplyDeleteThose Chloe flats are just perfect, great color and I love the scalloped detail. I just worry about longevity with flats. I'm hard on my shoes and normally only get 2ish years so I hate dropping hundreds and hundreds on them.
ReplyDeleteI am right there with you!!! I am 5'9 and my mom and sister are 5'2. I have always looked so awkwardly tall in pictures with the 2 of them. I usually wear heals to work but if I'm not working, I'm not wearing heels!! Flats are a necessity for this tall girl too. My issue is that I hate spending a lot of money on flats. I feel like I'm too rough on them or something and they don't hold up for the long term like boots or heels. I love the Chloe ones but it made me a little nauseous when I saw the price. I would have to say my favorite out of your choices would be the first pair with the stripes and the woven leather ones!
ReplyDeleteEek..those Target shoes are so cute! I am 5'7" and when I was younger I hated being taller than everyone but now I am almost always wearing heels but recently I visited my brother (who is only like 5'11") and he was like dang girl your over 6 feet tall.
ReplyDeleteI'm 5'7" and I like flats and heels equally, it just depends on the occasion and the outfit! But I do love flats, especially for wearing with shorts in the summer! These are so cute!
ReplyDeleteLove these! The first two picks are my fave!
ReplyDeleteI love flats but feel like a little kid in my TOMS for some reason? I think part of the issue is they are just too big on me in the first place ha. I love those striped canvas flats!
ReplyDeleteI pretty much always wear heels when I get dressed up but flats for every day life. Toms don't fit my feet well so I usually stick with ballet flats or sandals. My mom had shoes similar to those Vince camunos also and I was trying really hard this fall to convince her to buy those Chloe flats for herself!
ReplyDeleteOh I wish I had the problem of being too tall. I wear mostly flats though. Being a mom of a toddler, I just don't have the time to go stomping after my child (which is what happens when I'm in heels).
ReplyDeleteOh I love the Madlov ones - so cute!!! I love flats - I'm not quite as tall as you, but I just feel like I can walk faster and get where I need to be faster lol! City mentality! xo, Biana - BlovedBoston
ReplyDeleteGreat choices! I'm only 5'4" but I wear almost exclusively flats. I'm all about comfort. I do love a wedge every now and again, which are a little more supportive, but as a teacher (and a runner) there is no way I can abuse my body by wearing heels each day. Love every single pair you've chosen here.
ReplyDeleteI'm a shortie like your mama, but I wear flats daily because of child-chasing considerations. Church and dressed up nights out? Heels- though I sport wedges a lot. I'm always baffled when I see moms wearing heels or wedges hauling all their kiddos around. My balance is not that good!
ReplyDeleteLove your flat choices! I love wearing wedges to work, but sometimes a cute flat is a good option! Loving all of your picks -- especially the scalloped edge!

I got the Chloe flats a few weeks ago and I haven't worn anything else since, literally. They are SO comfy and I'll be getting another pair later on in the year!!
ReplyDeleteI am not tall by any means - barely 5' 3"!! Boo! But, I've also never been huge on heels... guess I've just accepted my shortness. Flats are definitely my shoe of choice though & I love these!! Especially the scalloped ones! So cute!!
ReplyDeleteI never wore flats in my 20s, well early 20s. I'm a petite lady so I always wanted height. I rocked the 4" heels like it was no thang, but now, yeah my feet don't like them as much. I have found a new appreciate for flats.
ReplyDeleteI'm a shorty at 5'3" and live in flats. I love wearing heels for special occasions but that's it - I hate being uncomfortable! Those Chloe ones have definitely been on my wish list forever, too - I'm obsessed!
ReplyDeleteI'm 5'10, so I can totally relate! I love heels, and wore them all of the time when I was working, but now that I'm a SAHM, flats are a must! Your picks are great, too!

at 5'7" i am all about some flats- and these are so cute! i totally agree with you though!! i REALLY want the woven leather ones- amazing. thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteI love flats. I wear them almost everyday because sometimes heels just kill my feet!
ReplyDeleteI love your picks especially #1, #4 and #6! Xo, Stephanie
