Moving on... Here are five things on my mind this Friday
1. Tory Burch Friends and Family Sale- 25% off!!
If you have been looking to stock up on any Tory Burch this fall you don't want to miss this sale!! It's 25% off and that includes Revas! Revas are not always included in the sales so snatch them up while you can.
You the code: FRIENDLIEST at check out
Here are few things I'm eyeing from the sale:
2. The BEST Homemade Taco Seasoning
After I'd finished cooking the turkey meat for tacos the other night I realized we were out of taco seasoning. So I did the obvious and turned to Pinterest for a homemade taco seasoning recipe. I had made one in the past that wasn't that good so I was a bit nervous. I read a few and the last one I found sounded really good so I gave it a try. I'm so happy I did- it's the best!! After using this I don't think I'll be going back to store bought ever again. The recipe makes enough so that you will have plenty leftover to store for your next taco dinner.
Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix
4 T chili powder
2 T cumin
2 T paprika
2 T dried oregano
1 T onion powder
1 T garlic powder
2 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
2 T cumin
2 T paprika
2 T dried oregano
1 T onion powder
1 T garlic powder
2 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
Mix all ingredients together and store in an airtight container. Add
3 level tablespoonfuls of the mix and 1/2 c of water to 1 lb of ground
beef or turkey that has been cooked with 1/2 diced onion. Stir well and
let simmer a bit for the spices to rehydrate, distribute, and the water
to evaporate. Taste for seasoning and add salt if needed.
3. Urban Decay Naked2 Basics
I love my Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow palette but sometimes I'm not looking for shimmer and just want some matte eyeshadow. Enter the Naked2 Basics eyeshadow palette. I stumbled upon this when I was in Ulta last week and feel in love. I've been using it the past two weeks and love how much more subtle it feels than the other palettes.
4. Toddler Nutrition and Weight Gain Suggestions
So my little guy has dropped to the 12th percentile for weight at his 15 month appointment :( He was in the 25th at 1 year and I believe the 50th at his 9 month so he's consistently dropping. She told me if he drops again (which would be off the charts) at 18 months we have to see a nutritionist. Anyone have any suggestions??
I feed him all day long but he's still pretty picky and he's very active. (he will eat a variety of foods from what I've heard talking to other moms.)The kid seriously never sits still unless I turn on the TV and I try to limit that to only mornings and nights. He just doesn't have a huge interest in food he would rather be playing or running around than sitting in a high chair eating.
5. Wine Recommendations- Send them my way!
With just about 4 weeks left it's time for me to start stocking up my new wine fridge for after baby. I feel like it's been 2 years since I've really enjoyed alcohol so I would love to hear everyone's favorite wines. Reds, Whites, Rose, Sparkling- I want to hear about them all!
Hope you all have a great weekend!!

I am way too happy about the TB Friends and Family AND Bloomie's right now. Best way to jump right back into shopping ;) Have you tried giving Miller pouches? Greyson eats the Stonyfield Yogurt ones and the baby food ones of fruit and veggie purees all day. They are literally the only thing he will eat. I used to give him toddler formula instead of milk after he turned one because he wasn't eating enough.
ReplyDeleteI love those studs! I am definitely adding those to my Christmas list!
ReplyDeleteOh man I love all of your TB picks! I wish I could splurge for Revas right now but our budget is all about baby at the moment. I'm a big fan of homemade taco seasoning, it has so much less salt! Love those eyeshadow colors!
ReplyDeleteI NEED those leopard Revas in my life!! They are perfect, I'll definitely be checking out that F&F sale!
ReplyDeleteI just posted about my all time favorite wine - It's called Milbrandt, it's a washington red. It is AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteI'm obsessed with Azur Rose' from Napa. If you like white and red you'll LOVE this Rose'. It's great!
ReplyDeleteThe naked basic palette is so great since it's so compact!! Hope you get something from the TB sale and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou and Pris are both thin! M just prob takes after you two!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe there are only 4 more weeks to go! I bet anything on sale is gonna taste good post-baby ;) Don't tempt me with the Tory! Happy weekend, lady!
ReplyDeleteI use homemade taco seasoning too! the recipe is very similar to the one you have. It is nice to know exactly what is in the seasoning. I like making it at home.
ReplyDeletela crema Chardonnay, from sonoma, is my favorite!!
ReplyDeleteI definitely second the pouches but you are probably already doing those. Other ideas: giving him his own utensils, having him feed friends at the table and then he takes a bit after he feeds them (my sister got these people for my nephew and he would "feed" them, then take a bite himself), trying other forms of the food like muffins. I make a bunch of different healthy (well healthier) muffings for H and my nephews. The mini muffins are always a hit. These spinach cake ones from Weelicious are a favorite. H has always been skinny and active so we try to load up on healthy fats like avocado (pieces or on toast), yogurt, cheese, whole milk, eggs, etc. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for Tory Burch F&F. It's time to get some shopping done!
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit scared to even go on TB site to check out things for the sale!! I seriously don't need any more shoes or purses and I can't help myself when it comes to her stuff!!!
ReplyDeleteGoing to add that eye shadow palette to my Christmas list right now! Never too early! :)
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned that he doesn't want to sit in his high chair to eat. Maybe trying different seating arrangements eg picnic on a blanket, him at a little table or even leaving something out that he can graze on. I know it's important to teach good manners, but getting him to eat is important too (which I know you know). And I agree about the healthy fats. Smoothies are a good way to get healthy calories in too.
ReplyDeleteObsessed with the leopard Revas! I love how they aren't gathered in the back anymore. As far as wine goes, Trader Joe's is my go-to. I have no shame in my love of inexpensive wine! Vinho Verde is my absolute fav (white, light, slightly sparkling). I also like their Benefactor Shiraz and the Vinas Chillenas Sauvignon Blanc. If I'm going to spend a little more, I go with local Virginia wines. There are so many that I love, but Barboursville Octagon is a perpetual favorite and so is New Kent Chardonnay. Enjoy indulging after a few years off :)
ReplyDeleteohhhh i need to check out that tb sale. xo jillian - cornflake dreams
