This time around I had zero ideas! I had no idea where to begin so I just started searching my favorite Pinterest. I went back through old pictures I had saved and searched for new ideas. I knew that I wanted to do something different for this baby, not completely different but I figured since most of everything he is getting is hand me down I had to make his nursery special.
Here are the pictures I was drawn to:
I quickly realized I was drawn to a neutral room with natural wood furniture. I loved the crib and dresser from the first picture but it's from Ikea. There is nothing wrong with Ikea but we were looking for furniture that will last the long haul, not fall apart in a few years. I then went on a hunt for a natural wood crib and feel in love with the Kenwood crib from Restoration Hardware (go figure, one extreme to the next). While it's gorgeous it just doesn't seem practical to spend that kind of money on a furniture item I'm only going to use for 2 years or so. I decided instead to go with a less expensive crib but splurge on the Kenwood dresser from R&H since that will be sticking with this kid for the rest of his life.

Here is my inspiration board:
I'm still up in the air on paint colors but I'm leaning toward a pale blue or green but also still considering a beige! If anyone has any good light blues or greens I would love to hear about them.
I can't even pick my favorite! I love the one with love seat/couch on the side!
ReplyDeleteI love simplistic baby rooms! These are all gorgeous! I already have my baby's room picked out too! And no I'm not pregnant!
ReplyDeleteLife as I know it
Gorgeous! We have such similar taste - I pinned so many of those same pictures when nursery planning. I was between the neutral and navy, like you did for Miller. Too funny! His room is going to be gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love your nursery inspiration!! I'm going to try to stay pretty nutural as well. We are doing all white furniture and grey walls. I may have some light blue accents in there. I love that natural wood dresser! Can't wait to see the final product!
ReplyDeleteahh I can't wait to see what you decide. I love all your inspiration photos and the idea of the natural wood. RH baby has the best furniture. You won't be disappointed!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your scheme!! That RH dresser is to die for!!
ReplyDeleteI love these - especially the first and last inspiration pics! And I love your board! Our first crib was destroyed by our boys from chewing and jumping so I've never regretted going cheap on that. I love the finish on the dresser! Can't wait to see it all come together.
ReplyDeleteI love it! ANd yes I agree, splurge on the dresser not the crib (unless it is convertible). I bought furniture for my son that he will probably use his whole life as well :).
ReplyDeleteYes, Yes, Yes......I love every single image, and I think you will love the neutral appeal. You should totally post Miller's nursery, I'd love to see it!
ReplyDeleteThose inspirations are going to make for a beautiful room! Can't wait to see it all come together!
ReplyDeleteLoving the white walls with gold stars! Did I not know you are having a boy because I'm scrolling looking for some kind of "It's a boy!" post hah. So exciting to plan for #2 :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute. Love your ideas.
ReplyDeleteLoving the natural wood and everything else about this. Little boys nurseries are so fun to do! Hoping to see Miller's room posted soon! Oh and Sherwin Williams Hinting Blue would look gorgeous with those other ideas :)
ReplyDeleteI love these neutral rooms. They look so peaceful and relaxing! You were smart to save on the crib and splurge on the dresser - that will stay in his room far longer than the crib!
ReplyDeleteLove your inspiration photos and I have to tell you that we bought that first IKEA dresser (Hemnes I think it's called) for my first child, 4.5 years ago, and it is still in perfect condition, 2 very very busy boys later! I actually think the quality is better than the Havertys dresser and twin beds we bought for my son for his big boy room, after the Hemnes. It's still in the nursery and I'm actually just going to keep it for when my 2nd child goes into a big boy room, and considering a few different IKEA twin beds to go with it! I changed the knobs on the dresser btw. Just my 2 cents!
ReplyDeletei love all of these neutral ideas! not too overbearing "boy" the blue paint is perfect! xo jillian - cornflake dreams
ReplyDeleteI know good greens and blues!!!!! and I love that natural dresser. Problem is my twin beds for big boy room are dark dark brown and crib in nrusery is white. can i mix woods???
ReplyDeleteI bet it's going to look great!!!
ReplyDeleteI bet it's going to look great!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the natural simple look! I've never taken a look at the RH kids stuff until you linked to the dresser..... now I want it all!! I'll have to start making daily visits to the outlet right by our new house in CO. Definitely smart to save on the crib and go for good quality with the dresser that will last him forever. Can't wait to see it all come together. I loved Miller's room.
